HEAT RECOVERY UNIT

HRU

In any process house hot air stenter is the most energy consuming system. Apart from the thermal energy required for evaporation of water during drying and finishing, considerable amount of energy is lost in the exhaust.
This situation leads to various issues. While major issue is the loss of costly thermal energy, it also leads to the heating up of atmosphere, thus adding to the global warming problem which is getting out of hand and is turning very serious.

ONE OF THE SOLUTION

• HRU system recovers part of the energy in the hot air in the exhaust ducting before it is let off to atmosphere.
• Significant amount of thermal energy is recovered by pre-heating the fresh air.
• This pre-heated fresh air is fed inside the stenter chambers.
• The exhaust air is partially cooled which helps considerably in reducing the global warming problem.

WORKING PRINCIPAL

• Heat Recovery Unit is a system in which the fresh air is pre-heated using the high temperature exhaust from the Stenter machine.
• The fresh preheated air is then fed to inlet of Stenter machine. This reduces the energy requirement in the Stenter.
• The system operates with air-to-air recovery heat exchanger. (Refer figure)
• The system can be run manually or complete Automated system is also available
• Overall specific energy requirements are dramatically reduced in comparison to conventional systems

HIGHLIGHTS

• Payback of the system is in between 18 to 44 months depending upon exhaust characteristics and fuel used.
• It is available in a small size skid mounted system.
• UMI HRU requires less floor area, less structure & No civil work.
• Inbuilt filter system will remove unwanted suspended particles easily, if any. This reduces maintenance cost.
• Lower installation and retrofitting cost
• No modification required in main exhaust fan and chamber blowers.
• Helps in lowering carbon footprint.
